SPRINGFIELD - William R. Marino, 84, of Springfield, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 29, 2010. Born in West Springfield and a long time Springfield resident, he was the son of the late Angelo and Anna (Couro) Marino. William was a retired employee of the former Uniroyal, Inc. of Chicopee. He was a communicant of Holy Name of Jesus Church in Chicopee and had belonged to the former St. Patrick's Church. An Army veteran of World War II he was a member of Company F 345th Infantry Regiment, 87th Infantry Division and participated in the Ardennes, Central Europe and Rhineland Campaigns. He was awarded the American Campaign Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. William was an old fashioned home body. He was an avid collector of many odds and ends and enjoyed the winters he spent with his wife in Pompano, Florida. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 54 years, Susana (Ribeiro) Marino; his brothers, Michael Marino of Northampton, Louis Marino of Holyoke and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held from the Tylunas Funeral Home 159 Broadway, Chicopee on Monday, January 3, 2011 at 9 a.m., followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial in Holy Name of Jesus Church, 33 South St., Chicopee at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Chicopee. The family will receive friends and relatives at a gathering to be held on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at the Tylunas Funeral Home from 2 - 5 p.m
