Doris C. (Couture) Geoffroy, 85, beloved wife of 41 years of Norman T. Geoffroy who predeceased her in 1994, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2017 at Birch Manor Nursing Home in Chicopee. Born on August 26, 1931, in Chicopee, MA, a daughter of Edward and Mabel (Girouard) Couture, she was a lifelong resident of Chicopee. Doris graduated from Cathedral High School and later was employed as a Data Entry Clerk for twenty years at Spalding Sports World Wide in Chicopee, before retiring in 1996. She was a longtime parishioner at the former St. George Church in Chicopee Falls and most recently a parishioner at Mary Mother of Hope Church in Springfield. Doris loved animals both big and small. She was a warm and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed by all. Her family wishes to thank the loving staff and caregivers at Birch Manor, and Dr. T.K. Raman and all the staff at Valley Pulmonary for their kind and compassionate care. Doris leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving children, Denise D. Heywood and her husband, Ronald, Jr. of Belchertown, Charles Geoffroy of Chicopee, Kenneth D. Geoffroy and his wife, Rena, of Agawam, and Diane M. Geoffroy-Lemieux and her husband, Karl, of Chicopee; her sister Rita Waterreus of California, her brother, Edward Couture and his wife, Carol, of Springfield; her 3 adored grandchildren, Ronald III, and his wife, Ellen, Amanda Cardaropoli and her husband, Franco, and Brett Geoffroy. She also leaves three beloved great grandchildren; her loving three nieces, Maureen Gunn and husband Steve, Denise Couture, and Linda Cirpriani and her husband, Chip; her lifelong friend, Lillian Bigda and husband Ted of Chicopee and her very closest friends , Barbara and George Surprenant of Chicopee. Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, April 10, for a period of visitation for Doris from 9-10 a.m. at Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway St., Chicopee, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Mary Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Blvd., Springfield. Burial will follow immediately after the Mass at St. Rose de Lima Cemetery in Chicopee.
