CHICOPEE-Elizabeth (Hamm) Jackson, 78, of Chicopee, Ma.  went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at 5:28 a.m. after a long battle of health issues. She was born in Roseboro, North Carolina on August 16, 1939. She lived in New York, attending schools in New York and graduated with her LPN license in 1955. She married Ashton Jackson on December 7, 1957 and he predeceased her in 1977. Elizabeth worked as a nurse for many years, but because of a back injury had to leave the Nursing field which she really loved. Ashton and her plans were to become foster parents and raise children for God. Elizabeth continued on with that plan and became a foster mom for many. After Ashton’s death and with five foster kids in the home she went back to school and became a teacher. After finishing school she adopted the five kids. She worked in the Chicopee School District and was always loved by her students and their parents. She treated her class as a family. She encouraged each child to be the best they could be and go further than they imagined. Her love for kids and people was shown by her generous giving of herself to help in anyway she could. She was a great prayer warrior. Her love for God was always first in her life and was seen in all areas of her life, even in her illness.  Many nurses and patients heard her call on the name of Jesus.  She was a great witness for her love of God. Elizabeth is survived by her God given sister, Jacqueline Tisdale of Chicopee. Her sister, Theresa Hazel of Amityville, NY. Four sons; Joseph of Arizona, Michael Heckstall of Chicopee, Christopher of Chicopee and Jonathan of Baldwinville, MA. Her three daughters; Melissa of Natick, Veronica Garvin of Springfield and Latia Diaz of Boynton Beach, FLA. She was sadly predeceased by a son, Dwayne on April 18, 2017. She also leaves twenty four grandchildren,  four great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Elizabeth will be missed by her family, friends and her large church family who loved her dearly. Services for Elizabeth will be held on  Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 10am at First Central Bible Church, 50 Broadway Street, Chicopee MA 01020 In lieu of flowers, donations in Elizabeth’s memory can be made to First Central Bible Church, 50 Broadway St., Chicopee, Ma. 01020
