Tribute

Francis J. “Frank” Nally, 84, of Naomi St. in Chicopee passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Elaine Center in Hadley. Frank was born in Chicopee, was a lifelong native of the city and attended local schools. He met the former Isabelle Pion and they were married, settling in Chicopee to raise their family. They met in January 1954 at the ice skating rink at the Willimansett Ice Rink and they were married in August of 1955. He enlisted in the US Army, serving with the US Army from 1955 to 1957 at Camp Kilmer in New Jersey. He was honorably discharged, returning home in 1957. Frank worked as a drywall installer and painter for the Painters and Allied Trades Union, District Council 35 in Massachusetts from 1960 to 1980 and then District Council 11 in Connecticut from 1980 until March 1, 2000 when he retired. He was a parishioner of Ste. Rose de Lima Church and had previously been a member of the former St. George’s Church in Chicopee Falls.

Frank enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a longtime member of the Chicopee Sportsman’s Club. He also built and flew model airplanes and was a member of the SPARKS RC Flying Club. Frank loved the water and enjoyed boating and scuba diving in his younger days with his family and was a member of the U.S. Coast Auxiliary.

In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased by a brother, Edward J. Nally. He leaves his beloved wife, Isabelle (Pion) Nally of Chicopee. His children; Andrew Nally and David Nally of Chicopee, Katherene Brownlee of Henderson, NV. and Jo Ann Renaud of Clearwater, FLA., eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He also leaves a sister; Marie Norton of Henderson, NV and several nieces and nephews.
