Lisa Ruth Sergienko passed away at her home in Springfield on January 5, 2021. A native of Chicopee, she was born on March 13, 1963 to Walter and Christine (Schorling) Sergienko who predeceased her. She graduated from Wilbraham & Monson Academy and Grinnell College. Lisa spent many years in the Portsmouth, Virginia area working for various companies in shipping and export logistics before moving back to Western Massachusetts. Some of her fondest work memories were of assisting the movement of humanitarian aid supplies to natural disasters around the world.
She leaves her three sisters, Anne Kanzari of Pantin, France; Alexis Dow and husband Bruce Gardner of Ashfield; and Lara Sergienko and husband Rick Asmann of Wendell. She also leaves her three nieces who she adored: Aisha Kanzari and husband Said Moussa of Bezons, France; Maya and husband Hatem Kanzari and their children Lydia and Noé of Bobigny, France; and Emily Dow of Windsor Locks, CT. Her intellect, compassion, and wicked sense of humor will be missed by her many friends and family.
In keeping with Lisa’s Russian orthodox faith and due to the social restrictions all services will be private with burial in Hillcrest Park Cemetery in Springfield. Memorial donations in her name in may be made to ARISE for Social Justice, 38 School Street, Springfield, MA. 01105 whose mission she supported, or to any organization that benefits the poor and marginalized.
