AGAWAM-Marie Antoinette Kowalewski entered into the after-life on March 19, 2018. Marie was predeceased by her devoted husband and caregiver to his wife of 63 years, Richard L. Kowalewski, both of Chicopee. Marie was born in North Little Rock, Arkansas on November 6, 1924, to the late Anne White. She was predeceased by her sons Ronald, Donald and Edward Williams. Marie held a variety of jobs throughout her career and spent the majority of her working years, before retirement, as a Lecturer for Weight Watchers Inc. Marie was well known for her fiery red hair and her Southern charm. Marie’s legacy is the many lives she touched through her work and volunteer activities and her ability to impact people’s lives through her experiences and stories. Marie was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Chicopee and devoted hours of service to both Bingo and fund-raising for Moose-related charities. Marie leaves behind her loyal son; Michael and his wife Gail of Agawam as well as her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy: Michelle Kowalewski-Lantaigne and husband Peter of West Springfield, and David Kowalewski and wife Erin Reilly-Kowalewski of Orange, CT. Marie also leaves her daughter; Toni Barnum and her husband Jeffrey of Alabama. Marie loved spending time at gatherings and spent many events with her family, including her beloved great-grandchildren, Emma and Grace Lantaigne, James and Ella Kowalewski. Gary Hebert and Numa Navarro completed her circle of family and memories of holidays and friendship. Special thanks to her wonderful friends and neighbors from Chicopee: Marcie, Fran and David as well as her Caregivers at Agawam Healthcare-Country Estates of Agawam. In abiding with Marie’s wishes, there will be no formal services held in her honor. Her immediate family will privately celebrate her life and legacy in a manner that is reflective of her wishes. Marie’s Care and Cremation services have been entrusted to Tylunas Funeral Home, Chicopee.
