SPRINGFIELD-Martha C. MacDonald, 74, of O’Connell Street in Springfield passed away peacefully on Sunday with her family at her side at Mercy Hospital. Martha was born in Springfield on August 10, 1945, the daughter of the late George O. and Katherine B. (Karparis) Peach. She was raised in Springfield, growing up in the North end, attending local schools and graduated from Commerce High School. Martha began her work career with the Buxton Company in Agawam before joining Avery Dennison in Holyoke, working in both Sales and Customer Service. She worked over 30 years with Avery Dennison before her retirement. She was very active in the Springfield community, serving on the Springfield Neighbors council. She was a communicant of Mary Mother of Hope Church on Page Blvd. Martha loved to read and enjoyed being a member of the local book club. She married her beloved husband, Gordon R. MacDonald on February 16, 1991 at St. Mary’s Church in East Springfield. She and Gordon lived in East Springfield for many years. They enjoyed the outdoors, especially hiking and fishing together. She leaves her beloved husband, Gordon R. MacDonald. Her son; James LaCroix and his wife Diana of Feeding Hills. Stepchildren; Brian MacDonald and his wife Christina of Denver, CO and Joseph MacDonald of Manchester Ct.,. Grandchildren; Erica LaCroix, John LaCroix, Heather Page, Amber Page, Rylie Dean and Alice MacDonald and great grandchildren; Kalum, Cora and Cameron.
The family invite you to join them on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 directly at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam at 2:00 p.m. for the Rites of Catholic Committal and interment services for Martha. (Please arrive promptly for 1:45 p.m.)
