Patrick L. Murphy

April 26, 1943 ~ June 6, 2021 (age 78)


Patrick L. “Pat” Murphy, 78, of Collins Street in Chicopee passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon surrounded by his loved ones. Pat was born in Johnstown, PA., a son of the late Patrick J. and Adaline R. Gohn. He was a graduate of Forest Hills High School in Johnstown, PA. He served in the US Army from 1964 to 1967 as a Sgt. with the Combat Engineers. Pat received the Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He joined the Army Nation Guard and served from 1973 to 1992 with the 104th Infantry Regiment stationed in Westfield. Pat worked in the Aerospace division of Pratt & Whitney, serving as an Analyst and Auditor. He retired in 2009 after 36 years of service. Pat was a member and past president of the Board of Trustees of the Ridgewood condominium association where he resided. Pat was sadly predeceased by his wife, Emily Shaffer-Murphy in 2014. He leaves his children; Keith Murphy of Chicopee, Cindy Simis and her husband William of Springfield, Kimberly Murphy and her partner Jeremy of Westfield and Patrick Murphy and his wife Keisha of Arizona. His partner, Diane Powers of Chicopee. His two grandchildren; Makenna Simis and DeAndra Roy,  three nephews; Adam and Ronald Pebley of Chicopee and Scott Pebley of CT. His former wife and mother of his children, Sharyn Murphy of East Longmeadow.  

Calling hours for Patrick will be held Wednesday, June 16 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway St., Chicopee, MA. Family and friends will gather to remember Pat on Thursday, June 17 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam where Rites of Committal and full Military honors will be rendered for his life and service to his country. The family asks that flowers be omitted and donations be made to the Shriners Hospital, 516 Carew St., Spfld, MA. 01104
