EAST LONGMEADOW ~ Rita Lefebvre Alarie Arbour, 90, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2020 at Redstone Care in East Longmeadow. She died of a broken heart due to the restrictions of Covid 19 that prohibited her from seeing her loving and caring children with the regular frequency which had occurred before the pandemic. Rita was born in the Province of Quebec, Canada on September 11, 1929, one of three daughters of the late Thomas and Ida (DesGagne) Lefebvre. She was raised in Lowell, MA until 1946, when her family moved to Chicopee Falls. Rita worked for the Superbrush Company formerly of Chicopee. She was married to Philippe Alarie, who passed away in 1978. She later remarried Gilroy Arbour. They moved to Florida, then to New Hampshire and finally settled in Hatfield, MA, where they resided for many years. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Grace Church in Hatfield. Rita was predeceased by both her husbands; Philippe Alarie in 1978 and Gilroy Arbour in 2019. Rita leaves her four children; Thomas Alarie and his wife Kathy of Maine; Suzanne Nealon and her husband John of Springfield; Philip Alarie and his wife Kathy of Connecticut; and Lynne Alarie-Bibeau and her husband Jeffrey Bibeau of Holyoke. She also leaves behind six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was predeceased by her sisters, Theresa Marschka and Cecile Pelletier. A private Family service for Rita will be on Friday, May, 22, 2020 at Tylunas Funeral Home, 159 Broadway St., Chicopee followed by interment of her ashes in St. Rose de Lima Cemetery, Aldenville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan St, Aldenville, Mass. 01020.
