CHICOPEE-Robert A. Fimbel, 86, of Chicopee passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening in South Hadley. Robert was born in Holyoke, a son of the late Alfred and Gertrude (Powers) Fimbel. He was a lifelong resident of Chicopee and graduated from Chicopee High School and Western New England College. He served in the US Army Reserves for six years. Bob worked for many years at Uniroyal, Taylor Rental Corp., and American Bosch. He volunteered for the Department of Youth Services as a mentor for at-risk youths. He was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 69 in Chicopee. Bob and his wife, Frances were devout Catholics and parishioners of Mary Mother of Hope Catholic Church in East Springfield. Prior to that, Bob served as coordinator for the drivers for “meals on wheels” program at St. Patrick’s Church in Chicopee where he also served as a Eucharist Minister. Even though he retired 30 years ago, Bob kept very busy volunteering at the Chicopee Senior Center where he helped seniors sign up for fuel assistance. Bob and Frances were snow birds, for 20 years spending winters in Panama City, Florida. Bob and Frances lived at River Mills Assisted Living in Chicopee for the past year where they enjoyed meeting many new friends. Bob enjoyed gardening, attending daily mass, and watching the Hallmark Channel. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Bob leaves his beloved wife of 63 years; Frances E. (Nichols) Fimbel. His children; Ann Marie Beaupre and her husband Harvey of Belchertown, Robert M. Fimbel and his wife Kathleen of Chicopee, Michelle P. Malaspino and her husband Jay of Fairhaven, and Thomas J. Fimbel and his wife Christine of Roanoke, VA. His cherished grandchildren; Jeremey, Michael and Philip Beaupre, Alicia (Beaupre) Jopson, Megan Fimbel-Baskin, Amy Fimbel, Ashley Fimbel, Lynn (Fimbel) Anderson and Sarah Fimbel and two great grandchildren; Andrew Beaupre and Taylor Baskin.
FUNERAL SERVICES FOR BOB WILL BE TUESDAY, AUG. 31, 2021 WITH A CALLING HOUR FROM 9:30 TO 10:30 A.M. AT TYLUNAS FUNERAL HOME, 159 BROADWAY ST., CHICOPEE FOLLOWED BY A LITURGY OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL AT 11:00 A.M. AT MARY MOTHER OF HOPE CHURCH, 840 PAGE BLVD., SPFLD.
